The Mechanics of Row Mapping

Note: Please familiarize yourself with the rules and hints above before you begin row mapping.

Here is what the mapping screen looks like at the beginning of the mapping process.  We’ve clicked on Un-Mapped Only in order to show just those accounts that need mapping.  As we map each one, it disappears from the list on the left, and appears underneath the SurvivalWare category on the right.

The left pane contains the name of all the line items contained in the two CSV files from QuickBooks (or other source).  The right pane contains the standard Fort Knox Foundation Model chart of accounts.  The bottom left pane displays each row name, the values in that row,  and it’s current mapping status.  This pane also includes headers from the balance sheet and P&L that help you keep track of where you are within each.

The idea is to map all of the items from the left to the appropriate SurvivalWare row names on the right.  You can “drag and drop” one or several items at a time from the left pane to the right.  Or you can mark one or several items on the left, click on the target row name on the right, and click the Map button at the bottom to complete the mapping.
