DON'T BUY OUR SOFTWARE! (wait, what?)
SurvivalWare has been helping companies plan and manage their cash flow since 2002. It was conceived as a small business survival tool to get through the occasional cash flow crisis that is part and parcel of growing a business. Over the years, the ability to map and import financial data, and automate the production of financial reports - without using spreadsheets – has made SurvivalWare the “go to” solution for small and medium sized companies wanting to “up” their financial management game.
We added the ability to consolidate and analyze data from multiple locations a few years after starting up, and found it to be especially useful for franchise companies such as AlphaGraphics and Culver Franchising. We have also steadily driven down the cost of developing custom financial models by providing templates and tools to consultants. We publish two solid, battle-tested corporate planning models – the “Fort Knox” model, and a slimmed down “Simple” model. These can be used “out of the box” without customization, and we’ve found several customers in the zero to $20 million range that use these models “as is.” But we also provide access to the English-like model source code, and let you (or your consultant) modify it to your heart’s content. A recent example of this was a complete planning, budgeting, and reporting system for a chain of Yoga studios. SurvivalWare is Windows based and has steadily evolved over the years. We are in the process of upgrading the underlying technology to the Microsoft .NET framework. Our internal cash flow projections helped us understand that we can aggressively market, or aggressively develop – but not both at the same time. We’ve chosen to aggressively develop – our philosophy has always been substance first, form later. So we’ve taken the unusual step of asking prospects to hold off until after the New Year to purchase the software. The new version is shaping up beyond expectations, and already makes the existing good product – with all its customer kudos – seem a bit stale. (Obviously we didn’t run that last statement past our marketing experts. We told them to take the rest of the year off while we re-tooled). Sorry for any inconvenience. In the meantime, you can follow our progress and peek behind the scenes by reading our new company blog. |
“As a franchisor of more than 500 quick serve restaurants, Culvers faced several unique challenges in its financial reporting and forecasting. Before we started using SurvivalWare, it was challenging and time consuming to collect franchisee financial statement information and compile system-wide reports and benchmarking data.
Now that we are using SurvivalWare, we’re able to map our franchisees’ financial statements into a common format, giving us more high-quality financial data. Using SurvivalWare, we’ve been able to identify opportunities to control costs and be more profitable. We’ve been able to streamline our budget process and provide franchisees with better reporting, ultimately helping them run their businesses better. Luhring SurvivalWare worked hand-in-hand with us to customize their software to meet our unique challenges, which has proven invaluable to the growth of our business. SurvivalWare made our complex financial reporting simple, and we can’t recommend it enough." – Diana Shebel, Controller, Culver Franchising System, Inc. |
